Im looking at getting new ram, at the moment i have Corsair PC3200 200mhz ram and am looking to upgrade to 2G to keep my Athlon 64 3700+ happy and Geforce 7800GT up to scratch.

So im looking at 2 sets of RAM, both by G.Skill, there is the ZX PC3200 or the HZ PC4000. Need some help in choosing which one, becuase at the moment they are the same price on the Site (i think), or is this a plot to sell the best stuff even though it might be rubbish.

My friend recently bought the ZX ones and his comp runs fine with them.

I dont know if it matters but my Mobo is a: Gigabyte G8-K8NMF-9 Nforce 4.

Can i only go for the PC3200 'cus my old RAM is PC3200, can i not get the PC4000?

Any response will be much appreciated, thnx ;)

if your not going to overclock, 3200 ram will suffice. If your going to overclock you'll see better results from the pc4000 as its designed to run at a higher fsb.
You wont see any performance gain from pc4000 if your not going to overclock, providing both sets of ram your looking at are of the same timings (cas, etc etc)

Thanks

No im not gong to overclock, not in the know how to be fair, not into the cas and latencys and all that malarky :D .
wouldnt mind learning but no matter.

Ill get the ZX version, thanx for your help.

no probs, i dont overclock myself anymore, although I used to "back in the day"

I'd say look into it if nothing else it will give you a good insight into fsbs, multipliers and cas timings to give you a better understanding of the way it all fits together.
