Hi Guys,

Wondering if you could help me, im after an upgrade on my graphics card, I have an Asus P5K motherboard with 4GB of Ram and an E8400, I currently run an Nvidia 8600GT but I want to upgrade my graphics performance.

Any ideas which graphics card would be the best upgrade path for me (without spending silly bucks!)

Thanks in Advance :)

Sorry, don't know. The 5770 has DX11 support as well, is a little slower than the 4890 (someone correct me if i'm wrong), but once the DX11 games come out, you should see the benefits of it.

Ah I see, thanks again for the info :)

by the way I haven't checked but last time I did it said your only allowed 5 lines of text in your signature - just a heads up it might randomly go missing one day!

*8** then to be the high end cards while the *7** ones are mainstream. So the 4890 is a high end card of the 4000 series while the 5770 is the mainstream card of the 5000 series.

a whole lot faster? or not so much? anyone care to explain ATI's numbering system?

10-15% faster. They are very similar chips, except that the 5770 is Dx11,40nm(means less power needed, and less heat/noise) and on a 128bit bus, while the 4890 is Dx10, 55nm, and 256bit bus(albeit with slower memory).

As noise is a concern I would certainly go with the 5770.

Hi guys,

I have had a look around and the HD5850 seems good, what do you think? anyone know how loud they are? and how they compare performance wise to the likes of 4850 and 5770?

Cheers
James

5750 is a good choice if you arent bothered about running every game fully maxed out at a high resolution.

It will definately handle every game over the next couple of years at mediumish details.
