Hi all,

Right below is a picture of my home network,
what im wanting is to replace the Be Box router as it is only 10/100 and im wanting a gigabit one.
My homeplugs are 200 M/b ones and connected at 185 M/b so I dont get the full throuhput when transferring from pc to popcorn hour int. HDD.

And the Be box is connected to the master socket which is upstairs next to the pc.

It doesnt have to be wireless as I have a wireless access point downstairs

Any reccomendations, and thanks

I have a similar setup and asked a similar question a few days ago. Apart from the Billion 7800n which is expensive and has other issues I've not had any other suggestions.

I've searched previous threads and the RT-N56U has been recommended a couple of times but it's hardly a unanimous vote of confidence.

I've been looking at reviews of the Netgear WNDR4000/WNDR4500 which are newer incarnations of the Netgear WNDR3700 which a few people used to recommend on here but the reviews elsewhere are mixed.

Other routers I've looked at are TP-Link 300Mbps Wireless-N Gigabit Router (TL-WR1043ND) which is very cheap but I've no idea how it performs and it's getting on a bit now.

The D-Link - DIR-615 has also been recommended but again I've no idea how it performs and it's getting on a bit now.

With the current network adding a Gigabit capable router will make no difference.

The slowest point is the homeplug connection. You will need to replace this with something faster to get any benefit at all.

If you ignore the homeplugs for the moment you could achieve what you want by adding a cheap Gigabit switch upstairs. Connect one port to ‘My PC’, one port to the Be Box, and one to the downstairs connection.
