Which GPU for 1920x1200 gaming

Looking to build new pc for my brother-in-law but cant decide which gpu to get ?? He will use my old 1920x1200 monitor, so I need GPU that will run most games at highest settings.

Any opinions please :)
 
He is looking to spend around £250, will build it in pc running 4770k.
He works as games designer, wondering would it be better to go with Nvidia due to CUDA.
