Hi all, looking at getting a GPU and will have no more than £300 to spend on one.

Was thinking a GTX 770, but not sure which one or if thats the best option.

What cpu and psu do you have? What resolution are you running?

Btw, you might want to delete that link since it mentions competitors. :)

My bad :(

Run 1920 x 1080 with I5 4670K and a Corsair 650w.

I know AMD are thirstier, but with all the Mantle talk, its hard not to take an interest

Just want to get the best FPS i can out of the money i have.
Had contemplated getting a second hand 290X but wasnt sure

290 is way faster than the GTX 770, its as fast if not faster than the GTX 780 and Mantle is a must have :)

lol cheers all, well I've managed to get an approval on my refund for my old damaged GPU, so i should be purchasing my new card soon.

One question i had though, my PSU is fairly old now at 4 years. Im slightly concerned reading all the comments on how thirsty the 290 is and also prone to overheating ?

Ive also read that they are verrrrry loud when the fans get high

I'd go for this 290, better cooler, has a backplate and it's the same price, and both currently have free games :)

(Surprised Humbug didn't recommend it, as he's got one? Check the link in his sig for a mini review) :)

Some 290s may overheat, I've just returned an ASUS 290 DirectCU II because of it) but that was the cooler on the cards fault, if you get a decent cooler you'll be ok if you have decent airflow in your case. Also your PSU should be ok, but it wouldn't be a bad thing to look for a decent upgrade sometime soon :)

The PSU is fine even at 4 years old.

As for noise, its only the Reference blower coolers that get loud, the AIB cooled cards are just as quiet and effective as any other AIB cooled GPU.

its just the reference blower cooler, they are pretty naff TBH.

I can vouch for that GPU, tho i think the TriX is just as good, they are both among the best coolers. :)

On a custom fan profile i can barely hear it, its good.
