Firstly I appologise for not havin the nice my basket layouts the rest of you have, to be truthfull i have no idea how you lot do it ;)

Secondly I will be going for the build below I think, unless there is a reason anyone can recommend anything other than what I have for similar prices.

Thirdly I have approximately £250 to spend on a GPU, but for the right bit of future proof kit I can stretch this budget, but not by too much more, what card do you reccomend? for now the rig will be ran via a 32" Samsung tv at full 1080p via hdmi output but I will be getting a dedicated monitor in a few months.

And last but not least this rig will be used solely for gaming, so is it worth me getting an extra 8gig of ram or not?

The below spec comes to 794.82, I dont really want to spend more than £1050 but I will go upto £1100 if theres is a GPU thats worth me stretching the extra £50 for.

Hi.

I would certainly recommend the retail CPU as it has a longer 3 year warranty and the stock intel heatsink supplied also. it's only £5 more.

This is the GFX card I recommend (on offer for this weekend) - http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-098-GI

ahhh my bad, clicked on the wrong CPU, it will be the retail one i go for.

Ahhh shame I wont be able to order it, still waiting for my compensation cheque which is due anytime now :( just my luck to miss out on the sale items!

There's no value in going for a 7970, it'd be better saving the money or putting it towards more storage, something you would notice.

Both look good, one thing that didnt copy from my basket was the headset , thought it was a bit cheap Stulid, and with the addition of a headset brings me up to budget :)

Will I notice enough of a difference to justify the extra £70 for the 7970 over the 7950?

following on from spoffle's comment, I need something along the lines of either build but with the addition of a surround sound headset with integrated mic for £1100, I wont spend a penny over £1100 as initially I was only going to spend £800 but following several conversations with some members I am spending the extra few pennies :)

But after just seeing those figures I may have to go for the 7970 ;)

This, but perhaps the Twin Frozr III is a valid option too? Depends which you prefer, lower price or six games (which you could sell to make up the difference). Also worth noting that the windforce has a higher factory OC :)

Almost the same as Stulid's build, but with the 2700K under £200 it's hard to ignore.

Nice!

I think the Matterhorn Pure performs better for about the same price. The Macho as well, although it's a biiiig cooler. True SPirit 140, but don't know if it fits in the Shinobi. In any case, there are loads of good CPU coolers, all will do a good job and quietly.

with the i7 just under £200 it is hard to ignore, but I really want to stick to my £1100 budget the best I can and dont want to spend unnecessarily. and I need to budget into that £1100 a gaming headset too, was thinking this http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=SP-013-PT&groupid=702&catid=1058&subcat= cheap and cheerful option with good reviews :) and also within budget if I go with Triggerthats build :) and also if I can get free shipping could also go for the i7 too, or would that require a different more expensive mobo??

if you like the build i put up you can change to cooler to a 120rad one and save £40, also you could change the psu out to something like the pc p&c 600w for £70, saves another £30. you still get all the e-atx goodness etc, and can fit the headset, mouse, keyboard etc in to the build.

"would that require a different more expensive mobo??" Nope, just the one that has been specced.

Also as said above, dont waste the extra on a 7970, you can save a lot on the 7950 and just overclock it easily. it will free up a lot of money to make that changes you want with the cpu and i would be inclined to change the mobo he specced to, possibly to something with better clocking features, more sata 6 ports, more than 1 x16 lane etc.
