As per the title.

Ideally make + model + PSU used.

I know its a bit hit and miss, but with my current pair making enough noise to have the RSPCA investigating if im murdering cats inside my case, trying to edge my luck.

Considering going for 2 of the 8gb saphire 290x boards, as this is non-reference maybe theyve done something in this department? (I wont be bitcoin mining, so that doesnt factor in, purely for video rendering and gaming)

2x290P VTX Reference cards. Completely silent. Not even a hint of Coil Whine at silly high fps or on the Unigine Heaven/Valley quit menu. :p

Prior to that had a XFX 7990. Actually thinking about it, it did have some coil whine. It was not too bad though.

Prior to that had 4x HIS Ice-Q 7950's (one faulty and one dsr'd) none had coil whine.

Prior to that had a 7970. It had a little bit of coil whine but was not too bad and was kind of like a quiet ticking noise. I could not hear it unless i had my head in the case. It did make a loud squeal on the Unigine Heaven/Valley quit menu though.

Erk, why do I feel im going to be buying like 6 cards in 1 go and Cherry picking them :(

To be fair you can't hear most coil-whine over fans.

With all the fans in my case (16) at max RPM, with the case closed, and headphones on, I can still hear the whine on my cards even with vsync enabled.

They dont just whine, they scream.

Never had a card with bad coil whine thank god. At least if you buy a new card or two you can always DSR if you get a stinker.

TBH I don't think it's as simple as "Who has coil whine?" as not everyone has a totally silent case where it's more noticeable.

ie. you might have someone with a 20dB watercooled rig noticing coil whine and someone with a card that whines twice as badly but don't notice it due to case noise.

1x HIS 290 flashed to 290x zero coil whine
2x gigabyte 290x zero coil whine

1x gigabyte 290x at work, had coil whine with a 5yr old TX750, changed it to a 1000w superflower, now its silent.

The only card I have had which had noticeable coil whine was a MSI GTX 670 OC Power Edition. Clocked like a champ to around 1350/7200 but squealed like a piggy whilst doing so (it squealed at stock clocks as well).

Such a shame as otherwise the card was golden.

Not had anything on other cards.

spec in sig, no coil whine except on some games that start up with 6000fps or so then once its back to normal it's gone
