hi guys im putting a new system together around a intel core2 duo cpu , i want the fastest graphics card i can get so should i pick a ATI Radeon X1950 XT-X ***Crossfire/Master Edition*** SILENT Heatpipe 512MB GDDR4 or the new BFG GeForce 8800 GTX 768MB GDDR3 my mate says i should go with the the one with the fastest core speed which would be the ati ! however im at a loss which to get what do you guys think ?

Honestly , I think the 8800GTS is the better buy compared to the 8800GTX - it's samller, chaeaper & no doubt can be overclocked to heck.

I would normally have said ati but now the big boys out from nvidia its goto be them.

Yes for now the GTX and GTS are the better options but that is the first releases of DX10 cards from Nvidia. ATI still has their turn.

If it's going to follow pattern then the ATI card should be better so it just depends if you'd like to wait a couple of months for to see whats best. Right now there is only one choice.

Nvidia had to play catch up in a few areas surrounding their old cards as they had the lesser image quality, no HDR & AA support and the ATI card plays better at high resolutions with AA, AF. It's about time Nvidia cleared that up as it's a HUGE company and had no excuses.

Now even against the new cards it seems from a few benchmarks I've been seeing that the ATI cards still perform great at high res's with full quality settings. Even though the GTS and GTX beat it it's not by that much. It seems if the Nvidia cards still take more of a performance hit at these res's so Nvidia still have that to sort out. Glad the image quality is improved as is the HDR & AA support.

It seems as if ATI just need to improve there image quality slightly and with more power then I forsee it being dominant but this is just my view.

Google is your friend on this one so you don't get caught up between ATI & Nvidia users as some can be biased.

ATi must be better... they have a red logo for gods sake:D
i really cant wait to see how ATi reply to this, and cant wait to see nvidias refresher card. I have afeeling, that with the recent take over from AMD, ATi's new card is going to be BIG!!!!
