I'm looking to replace my long gone 8800GT 512mb. I've been using my uncles 5670 temporarily but he needs it back now. I mainly play BFBC2 or MW2 and the 5670 actually handles them quite fine at bearable settings.

Budget is low as I'm considering replacing my system with a laptop so the parts may get sold in a couple months. If I do decide to keep my system then I'd sell the new card and replace it with something stronger and more future-proof, but don't want to take that plunge right now. I've tried the 460 and at £200 it just seemed overkill for what I used it for.

I'd prefer quiet and cool over a couple fps performance.

Tanks!

have a look in the MM for second hand 5770s. They seem to be going in the region of £85-£100 depending on age, condition, warranty etc.

5770 or wait for the GTS 450

have a feeling it's going to be one of those card which when overclocked will be very awesome

could also have a look for second hand GTX 260, since i think they are faster than 5770, though not sure about noise levels.

Thanks for the advice, I've made a thread in MM Wanted for any 5770's going. If no response then I'll have a shop around.

Luckily found 2 spare 6800GT's lying around so I'm good with one of those for a few days. Doubt it'll handle BFBC2 though, or run it at all for that matter :p

He prefers quiet and cool so if the GTS 450 is anything like the 460 then its going to be fairly noisey but not annoyingly...

Yea those leaf blower coolers on most nvidia cards are dreadful if you want quiet stay well clear of those.
There's xfx 5830's going for £123 cant say where though
