I barely play any games on my PC however I want to start playing TF2 again. I've downgraded my PC somewhat since I last played. My specs at the moment are i3 530, 8GB DDR3 and a Nvidia GT 430.

I just want to pick up a used graphics card to allow me to play TF2 on max settings without getting FPS slowdowns.

What sort of card should I look for?

Cheers

Hello Tom. I remember when you had your 7850 and i was helping you with your mild cpu bottleneck in sleeping dogs. What happened to the 7850?

Hi mate,

To be honest I just lost interest and wasn't really using the hardware enough as I started using my Xbox 360 a lot more and I transferred the hardware to my brothers PC.

It's the same situation now really as well. I do have a big enough budget to build a solid gaming PC but it just wouldn't get used enough. TF2 is about as far as my PC will go for now.

Cheers

I'm not familiar with that game, but i don't think its too demanding.

What res will you be using and what is the rest of your system like?

Still got that i3 cpu with HT?

I've still got the i3 3220 however it's in my HTPC at the moment so won't really be able to use that.

I'll be running a res of 1920x1080. The rest of the system is just your standard 500GB HDD, 8GB DDR3 RAM, 400 or 450W Corsair PSU etc.

Cheers

What cpu will you be using? Hopeful someone that plays the game can recommend a suitable gpu.

May sound like a stupid question...but have you tried and see how your GT430 coup for TF2? The game isn't really that demanding graphic wise...

And from what I recall, source games such as Left4Dead and TF2 can be CPU limited due to the game being mostly single-threaded, so you might want to overclock your i3 530 higher.

At 1920x1200 with a 4GHz i5 750 and GTX680 I got 220+ fps with everything on maximum in TF2, so something like Matt posted should be more than capable enough.

I can tell you my old trusty GTX 260 was more than enough for the game to run 60+ FPS, so anything more powerful than that will do!
