I am looking at buying a new rig, at the moment I have decided I am going conroe but I have no idea on what Graphics card to get....

Should I go Nvidia or ATI? My last 2 pcs had ATI and I have had no problems with them. However a couple of people I know have said I should now go Nvidia....

What should I go for? I have been looking at the 7900GTX's and the 7950 GX2's or should I go for the X1900 XT-T's?

7900 range = unreliable.
7950 GX2's = nothing more than a sales gimmick, think of it as a poor mans SLi, its basically just 2X 7900GT`s bolted together with a connector bridge to allow all the data to flow through a single PCI-E interface, Multi GPU my arse.

Connect3D ATI Radeon X1900 XT-X 512MB GDDR3
Price: £274.95 (£323.07 Including VAT

gets my vote.

Ive heard that and I've also heard it pegged somewhere near April. I really don't know anymore. It might even get pushed back further. Beta 2 is rather rough though I hear that RC1 has fixed a LOT of bugs.

X1900XT on sale would be my choice. Will last untill there are enough DX10 games to warrant the purchase of a DX10 card (possibly a couple of years. Then you can buy a DX10 card that will be quick enough to also run those same games too.

As a completely pure guess I'd say that DX10 cards will be out before Vista. I would expect them out a month or two before Christmas. I've no evidence for this of course, but if I was a gfx card maker then I'd be aiming to get some of the "must have a DX10 upgrade" market just before the Christmas rush.
