As said depends what you need it for.
In games the 8800 is a bit faster than the X3870 but if you are planning to use the PC for games and watching videos and also want to connect it to a TV via HDMI then the x3870 would be a better solution.

yes, but i like a card to be quiet as well, and cooler might help with over clocking
Goodness grief, use some initiative and go google some reviews/benchmarks, there are plenty out there comparing them!
i have and now read the ***** reviews. the gt has slightly better frame rates but i may opt for ati now as good overall package. can play all the games fine to at playable frame rates.
it's nice to hear from forum members though who have them and can say what there like. it's alright reading loads of reviews but they all conflict each other most of the time.

If you want 30+ fps in Crysis, go with the 8800GT. I only mention this as it is a popular game and the reason for many questions / upgrades it would seem

just found that about the card and that it doesnt use the reference design scares me a little but if you do a bit of searching you can find it for £116 but is similar to the old gts for its cooler, there is another thats the same as the gigabyte card for 12 quid more... I wonder if OCUK will do a deal with palit

I've have to wait a few weeks but cheap is good..... come ocuk get them in so I can cancel this one
