I just built an i7 system for £700 and am now currently running it on my BFG 9600GT, i was thinking of changing graphics cards and cant decide on whether to buy another 9600 for sli, a 4850 or a 4870 from overclockers. I have a budget of around £180 as i spent most of my money on my prev build.

btw my resolution is 1824 x 1016 and i have a 700W psu

thanks for the help

sell your 9600 and get the 4870, then in the futere you can xfire your 4870 if you want to upgrade again

Another 9600GT would be a very good budget upgrade, but it really depends on your screen res. AFAIK 1824 x 1016 doesn't exist....are you sure that's what your screen does?

My resoloution is currently 1824 x 1016 because its a HDTV and i had to resize the screen is the 4870 better han the gtx 260?

Fair enough, so what resolution will you be running games at? Presumably something in the area of 1680x1050.

I can sell my gfx card to my bro for his new PC so i will get around £90 for it this is inclusive of my £180 budget i was looking around and came across the XFX 9800GTX+ which has a higher clock than the asus 4850 i was looking at would this be a better choice
Also i run most games in the area of 1680x1050- 1920-1080 depending on the game.

Thanks for the quick replies

is power color a recommended brand i was looking at it but couldn't find out about the warranty for this card

does anyone recommend this card ?

Yes, it's a great card at a great price. The 9800GTX+ is fast, but you'd be crazy to spend anymore than £130 on one.

thx for the quick reply, i now have the choice of a powercolor 4870 for £150 or a XFX 9800GTX+ Black Edition for £150 . I know XFX have 2 years warranty with the graphics card but powercolors website is very vague when it comes to warranty, has anyone bought this card and is happy with it ?

i really only plan on spending £150 so although id love the 2 9800GTx+ in sli i cant afford it at the moment. I'm probably going to go for the power color but the B grade gpu's do look very appealing.

does anyone know which nvidia card competes against the 4870 and which is better, also is it a good idea to upgrade my graphics card at the moment or wait ?
