Hi, im thinking of upgrading my graphics card in the next 3 months, I have a 4k monitor and a 970 at the moment so not ideal lol (although I can manage playing most games at 60fps in 1440p with setting turned down.)

I don't mind playing at 1440p on the monitor but would like to play the occasional game at 4k with settings at least at medium, I was thinking between a 1070ti or a 2070, which out of these would be best?

Other recommendations welcome, my monitor is freesync but my psu is only 520w and all the amd cards I have seen that I like would need me to also upgrade that and I don't want to

Was looking at the vega 56 but would my power supply be enough to power it? also is the 1070ti much of a upgrade on a standard 1070?

Your PSU should be fine, Antec are good.
Also remember with VEGA they consume less power if you undervolt them, they also increase in performance when you do so.

An under-volted Vega runs cooler and consumes less power than the competitor cards.

Thanks again for reply, ive never undervolted a card before and im not sure I would know how or trust myself to do it lol gives me something else to think about though, do you know the answer to my other question please?

Is it worth getting a 1070ti over a standard 1070? is there that much difference?

Out of interest would my psu be ok to run a rtx 2070?

Love it - 3 months became 4 hours :D

I think you probably made the right choice - I have a 1070 Ti for 3440x1440, but think it'd struggle at 4k. DLSS, if it ever emerges, would also be a help for 4K. I'd be having doubts about your PSU for something like the Vega 64 as well, so personally wouldn't want to risk that if it were me.

lol yeah im compulsive and got the green light from the wife :) do you think I will be ok with my current psu and the 2070?

The RTX 2070 should only use 30w more than the GTX 970 under highest load conditions (170w instead of 145w). Your CPU is also very power efficient, affording your system a bit more headroom in that department than what some have (like me on the AMD FX series), so I'd think your PSU would be fine.

Thanks for reply, you have put my mind to rest :) I am going to maybe upgrade my psu in the future,but its only around 2 years old so don't want to yet

The 2070 is effectively 1080 power, with more features. I upgraded from a 980 to a 1080 and it was a big step up, you should be delighted with the card. I love my 1080, overclocked very well and stays super cool under water.

That's great to hear, I receive it tomorrow and cant wait :) now just need to get a solid state drive for my main drive and alls good :) a pc shop owner told me today my psu might not be enough for the 2070 but another one told me it would be fine lol

Will just have to see tomorrow when it turns up, fingers crossed it all works fine :)

The beast is in :) now to try a few games to see what shes like, man its a heavy card! I installed the bracket thing as well, I got the msi gaming z model
