Right so I've just noticed the reduced prices on some of the GTX 470's and decided to purchase myself an early Christmas present (to be fair it didn't take much convincing)

I'm just stuck with which card to choose - the Gainward with the custom cooler seems a good price but can't find a solid review of one for the life of me.

The other card(s) I'm looking at are the Gigabyte/ MSI models, I'm just worried that the stock coolers might not be up to scratch and I'd rather not get into replacing one a couple of months down the line.

I will say I'm not a quiet PC freak, I game with headphones on so the noise of my PC doesn't really annoy me (obviously I don't want it to sound like a mini-tornado though)

Anyone had any experiences (both good or bad) with either of these cards or got an opinion on which would be best?

Cheers :)

I'm learning towards purchasing the Gigabyte myself as the user reviews warn the MSI is ridicolously loud.

I disregarded the Gainward altogether after reading this :

Seems the custom coolers isn't up to much.

On a side note, Does anyone know if my rig will bottleneck a 470 drastically?

I would either go with the OcUK GTX470 which is on a silly low price right now or the Gigabyte GTX470 SoC which is more expensive but worth it.

harenzo > "QUOTE" the MSI is ridicolously loud.

Don't beleive every thing you read in revievs, before l water cooled my MSI 470 tried it on air and it was no louder than the 5870 l had, Download MSI Afterburner make a profile up from 50% to 70% max fan speed depending on your case air flow, takes care of the noise problem.

Great overclockers as well £200 at the mow...

I have the gigabyte oc version, it will be loud once the fan go's above 65%, if left on auto it hits 81c with the fan in the mid 50's, temp well within spec, im gonna set a custom fan profile in afterburner, as normally i just set the fan manually to 70% and game with noise cancelling headphones. Seems like a decent clocker so far, jumped straight to 750mhz on the core, (640mhz core factory oc) on stock voltage.
