I've been toying with the idea of a GPU upgrade and the GTX560's seem to be in the right ball-park price wise but I'm not really sure what's what on the graphics card scene these days!

For example, is it worth the extra £54 for this:

Asus GTX 560Ti 1GB

over this:

Asus GTX 560 1GB

and again this one is another £28 for a 2GB card (albeit with lower clock speeds etc and no two free games!?!?!)

MSI GTX 560Ti 2GB

Thanks for any suggestions guys.....

*edit* how do I rename the link to properly reflect the items but still make it link to the OC page?? - Nevermind, done!

the first one you post is actually pretty good value (IF) you dont have and plan on buying those two gaems, which would save you 40-50 quid.

the second is a 560 and not a 560 TI
so it is slower.

the third card is horribly overprices as you are in gtx 570 money range which is just a plain and simple faster card.

Gonig from a GTX460 to a GTX560Ti or 6950 would be like a one teir upgrade, which in my opinion isn't worth the cost.

Either go SLI (if motherboard and PSU allow) on your GTX460, or all the way to at least a GTX570, or just wait for next gen card.

If you haven't got the games and intend on buying them then ASUS TOP works out at ~£145 (once you've deducted the price of buying the games.) YOu could also buy the card and sell the vouchers via the MM Forum - approx £45 in total.

YOu can still get some standard 560Ti's for approx £170 if you shop around - but the ASUS deal is a great buy if you have the funds and want to play the games.

Thanks for the replies guys!

I've been tempted with going SLI (my motherboard does support it and according to one of those online PSU calculators, my 600W Modstream Pro should handle it!) but you are looking at circa £90-£100 for one wheras if I can sell mine for that, another £70ish will get me a 560Ti! (lower performance perhaps than 2 460's but with no issues in respect of some games not supporting SLI!)

The other aspect is the increased heat and noise in my rig by running 2 cards!

I've just been forced to upgrade from a 460 to a 560Ti (my brother came to stay and he needed a new card) and i've been pleasently surprised with the performance boost.

Additional: I wouldn't have considered upgrading to a plain 560 from a 460 as a well clocked 460 can almost go toe to toe with a stock 560.

Any 2Gb 560 would be the one for me, but I'd wait for another 4 weeks and get a cheaper mid range Amd/Nvidia cards that will probably have newer features, use less power, run cooler.

What benefits does the 2GB card bring to the table?

I mean, from the above contenders, the Asus card has higher numbers in all but the memory and has the 2 free games and a lower price tag

Asus

- Core Clock: 900MHz
- Memory: 1024MB GDDR5
- Memory Clock: 4200MHz (Effective)
- Memory Interface: 256-Bit
- Processing Cores: 384
- Shader Clock: 1800MHz

MSI

- Core Clock: 880MHz
- Memory: 2048MB GDDR5
- Memory Clock: 4008MHz (Effective)
- Memory Interface: 256-Bit
- Processing Cores: 384
- Shader Clock: 1760MHz

Personally i'd go for the MSI Twin FrozR II 560Ti, shop around and you could pick one up for £180, they have good overclocking potential aswell.

Tommybhoy, could you log onto Steam please ? :)
