which Hard drive?

Hi,

Next upgrade will be new harddrives.

again only for gaming... is it worth the SSD? which one should I get? or should I just raid 0 2x750gb drives as this would be 1.5tb for the same price as 1 SSD 30gb? what do you guys think?

should I wait for SDD to come down?
 
would there be musch increase if I got ssd in performance of games? at moment playing WOW (most) Cyrsis and dawn of war II?
 
SSD's are great but they only really affect load times rather than speed of gameplay - obviously it depends how much disk activity each game requires. Crysis loads like lightning with my SSD's but when actually in the game I don't personally notice much difference. At the moment to get an SSD array for boot / apps / games purposes you'll probably need a min 60Gb and that can be very expensive and there are new SSD versions just around the corner (Vertex v2) which should put the price of the existing ones down a tad, so if you can wait a while you could save a bit. Otherwise go for the mechanical drives and enjoy heaps of room... have a browse through the HDD section of these forums as there are some good threads about SSD's there. :)

The RAID one will be made to have higher tolerances and a better mtbf - typically used in RAID arrays and therefore needs better reliability. tbh although some have had probs with Sammy F1's I like them, have had several of them (2 in case at the mo) and have never had a prob with them.

You could also consider the WD Black series as they've had great reviews and are slightly newer than the Sammy's.
 
Yes Samsung Spinpoint F1 is so cheap for 500Gb/750GB and 1TB I bought 2 of Sammy F1 1TB (2x1TB) for just £160 last year at OCUK - it so cool.
 
ok thanks for help... going to go with 2 of the normal HD for now and raid 0 them, then when SSD get better and cheaper in 12 months time will look at getting one for O/S. should see a big differnce with raid 0 from my current maxtor 250gb HD which is about 4 years old :)
