Hi there,

I've just got hold of a Manfrotto 190X Tripod and I'm a bit bemused by the amount of heads you can get. I'd like to get one with a ball head but the difference in prices for the head alone seem rather staggering!

Stupid question time but is there a consideration to give to the plate bit on the head - I'm just thinking of ease of use in getting the D300 on or off the Tripod - I seem to remember reading somewhere that some plates attach to the camera itself and there's a quick release system between that and the tri pod but I cannot find this again and I'm now wondering if this was a figment of my imagination.

These are the haeds i'm looking at.....

I'm off on a Trip to thailand soon so want all the gear in place ready!

That looks like a cracking start - thanks for that!

Stupid question no 2..... Is the plate bit a seperate purchase?

Nope, it's included with the head. You can buy additional plates if you need them though.

Also, if buying from Red Snapper, mention you're from the Talk Photography forums and you'll get a 10% discount.

Even better - and thanks for the tip! ;)

Just a quick note to say thanks for the tip mate! The Ball head is truly superb!
