Which headset for my Topping VX1 DAC/AMP

Hi,

So I *need* to order a new headset today. I'm under strict instruction from my mother that I'm not allowed to have nothing for Christmas...

Budget of £200 tops - ideally a bit a less.

I have a Topping VX1 DAC/AMP which will be driving them and will be using them for a combination of games / music.

I do not necessarily have a preference of open / closed back - there are benefits and drawbacks of both to me.

At the moment I am looking at the Sennheiser HD 599 for £179 - can't seem to convince myself towards any alternatives at the moment.

Any advice welcomed.

For gaming the AKG K702 is hard to beat. For music, it comes down to taste; K702 has a brighter sound and the HD599 is more laid back.

HD599 is a decent all round choice though, but maybe a tad expensive compared to the K702, which is great value for £105.

Ultimately though; it comes down to personal preference, which admittedly, isn't of much help, because you can't know that without hearing them both..

Thanks for your advice. The one thing I was really struggling with was knowing how high impedence I can go with a Topping VX1 DAC/AMP. I know little about the subject ..

As I've already placed an order for the 599s... if I don't like them I'll return for free through the rainforest place and try the K702s
