Hi all,

I am currently interested in buying a good headset for my pc and am looking to the following 3 headsets.

Sennheiser PC155 USB Pro-Gaming Headset

Icemat Siberia Audio Headset - Black

SpeedLink Medusa SL-8793 5.1 ProGamer Edition

I will use them mainly for gaming but also for the occasional music and movie session. Which do you think would be the best buy? Or is there something better which you can suggest? And are surround headsets just gimmicks or do they actually feel like surrond systems?

Also on another note I'm trying to decide if upgrading from my onboard sound to X-Fi would be worth it since I'm using the AW9D-MAX board. The sound is good and have no problems with it but if I install an X-Fi I would be unable to connect 2 graphics cards in Crossfire mode which I might do at a later date. Do you think it would be worth sacrificing a little graphical power to have better sound?

Please help me out in deciding what to do

Thanks in advance. :)

medusa - poor build quality but good surround sound
sennheiser - superior sound quality (i say go for this)
icemat - not sure, probably somehwere is the middle

do they have to have a mic?

i got the sennheiser HD515 and cant recommend them enough, absolutely superb sound and so comfortable you forget you have them on when your immersed in music or a game.

pc 150/155/160/165 id you want headset, they have a mic, hd 280/485/555 if you want headphones and then you can get a desktop mic :D i have hd485's and a desktop mic, stonking headphones.

Thanks for the replies everyone. :)

No I'm not looking to have a mic actually, kinda useless for me as I don't have any need of it. I'm just looking for a pair of headphones with which I can hear everything (or almost) in games and have clear sounds when listening to music.

Also should I consider surround headphones or are they just gimmicks? Do they sound better than stereo headphones in games?

Again thanks in advance.
