Hi guys,
The kids' nan (my mother in law) bought them an e-machines E3042 for christmas just gone. It has been running OK but isn't anything amazing quality wise. The only issue is an incredibly annoying heatsink fan.
As soon as there are a couple of apps open at once, or firefox loads some flash content, it spins right up and it's LOUD. It's annoying as heck. There's no vibration, just the (very loud) noise of the fan whirring and spinning up to full whack and staying there. It was silent when we first set it up but has gradually become unbearable.
It's so bad now you can hear it from one side of the house to the other, so... What I'm getting at is I have no idea which heatsink/fan I need to buy to replace the current one. My own machine is a s939 Athlon X2 and I know where I'm going with that, but this thing is a Celeron D 352 3.2Ghz and I have NO idea what socket, what type etc etc.
So, if someone would be kind enough to gimme a link to the OC shop for a cheap (but decent/quiet) replacement heatsink and fan combo I'd be indebted
TIA,
Lee
