Hi I've upgraded my desktop PC over the years and have always enjoyed my desktop but I wish to switch to a high end gaming laptop. Mainly now as I'm living with a new girlfriend and don't want to leave her on her own I'm sure you can imagine it wouldn't look good lol
My ideas in mind are......
Aorus x7 dt v7 17 inch laptop
Msi GT83VR 7rf titan
Asus 18.4" ROG GX800VH
Asus rog g701.

Now I do some photography as well as gaming and am thinking a 4k display will help..... But saying this I've no experience with a 4k display including my desktop which was a 2560 display.
What are your thoughts ?
Which ever I get I want the best card available which is the 1080 gtx at the moment. Going sli has also been in my mind especially if I was going to 4k.
Would I be better sticking to a lower display resolution such as in the msi titan or go for one like the Asus 800vh ? Thanks in advance

I wouldn't get 4k on a laptop, you want to aim at a certain PPI. I'd say from my own use, 95ppi is about right. Use this site to work out what PPI you like. 4K means you need a faster GPU.

Isn't there going to come a point in x years when all laptops will have 4K screens anyway? Admittedly the GPUs will be better for coping but the PPI argument won't be valid.

It depends how hilariously small you are happy for text to be in some windows applications,
and/or how blurred, or much wasted GPU/Battery you are willing to put up with on your mobile device.

For me Anything above 1080p on a screen less than 20+" diag is likely a design compromise/waste of resource with costs better allocated to other components and thats before concerns of batteries are even brought up for mobile devices.

Having run 1440p on an external 24" monitor, for me it's liveable un scaled, at it's native resolution at that size but I don't think Id want it anywhere near my 17" laptop screen certainly 4K would be more hassle than worth at that size.
