Hello all! I'm new here (don't hurt me >.<) and have saved up to build a computer which hopefully I can get done at the end of this month. I have watched dones of "how to" videos on building a computer, but none seem to explain the technical specs of each part in laymans terms; mostly enthusiast level >.<

To cut to the chase, I've been having a hard time choosing a processor. For a while now, it'd seem I'd either get the AMD Phenom II Quad or one of Intel's i series. However, it seems apparent that AMD seems to be the less favorable, that going with Intel would probably a better choice. I've notice a lot of people mention the i5 2500k SB, which seems to be decent. But when I look at how many i5 SBs there are on the store, it becomes overwhelming. Should I get the ones that are not 2500k or get the ones with the multiplier unlocked?

Oh yeah, I intend to use the pc for gaming (Skyrim, Fallout, CnC all maintaining a descent Frame-rate), but also for work that I will be doing during Uni course; it must be able to handle Unity, Flash as well as 3DS Max. So which processor do I go for?

Should I go with the i5 2500k OEM or will the AMD suffice? Or should I look into i7? I guess it's worth mentioning what my budget is; currently, I haven't really planned out what parts I want so I'm not really sure. All I can say is that I'm happy if it's not an enthusiast-level part.

Thank You! (apologies for the really long post >.<)

Ah right, I see thanks. I can't say what my budget is at the moment because I don't exactly know what parts I would definetely want. But thanks anyway.

I'm off to bed now, but I'll come back on tommorow to see what other people have said.

Thank you!
