I am now thinking of getting a iMac.

But prices seem to be higher then they use to be I thou.

I have been looking at the 1199.00 and the 1499.00 will i see a big difference between them using CS4 and Aperture? As I seem torn to the 1199.00 as it cheaper on my pocket.

At the moment I have a MBP 2.16 with 3gb memory and it seem to be struggling dont know why and I have formatted it several times and it wont improve.

Can't comment on other iMac's but went through the same decision myself about 9 months ago. I needed it so I could use Avid, Final Cut pro and CS4. Went for the 24' 2.8 and it handles all that I chuck at it work wise no problem. I did upgrade the ram to 4G, simply cos I could not that it needed it. Don't know if that helps ya mate.

How much were the iMac 2.8?? I though it was in the region of 1199.00 that why i cant understand why the 2.66 is in the 1199.00 price tag

You are comparing raw clock speed :p

The latest chips from Intel have more bang-per-buck, if you check out benchmarks you will see a 2.66 will be on par with the old 2.8GHz.

Got the Mac
a HP Photosmart D5360 free, (well got the £60 reinbursed as a deal after I sent away proof of purchase)
and Apple care all for the princley sum of £1115.
Thats with HE discount.
So needless to say I was a very happy camper. :D

The AppleCare only buys you extra 3 years phone support from Apple.

If you wanted to save money you could have just kept the complimentary 3 years parts and labour warranty that comes with the HE purchase ;)

If you can afford it go with the 1499 and enjoy the lovliness of the 24'. I'm sure however that the 1199 model would easily handle Photoshop and Aperture.

i have a 24" 3.06ghz,1tb,4Gb and a ati 4850 coming in the next couple of days and thanks to Justin on these forums he gestured the education discount as well which saved me £300 its worth it ordering over the phone just for the discount :D am going to give a go on the trails of aperture and some others see which one i prefer
