I'm in the market for a new s478 board. It needs to be an intel chipset, with an AGP slot but i'm out of touch as to which is the best one to get. Any advice/suggestions would be great

Many thanks

Spudgun

PS please don't turn this into a flame war, my requirements are quite specific, as it is for a project i have on the go

Abit IC7-G
Abit IC7 Max 3
Asus P4C800-E Deluxe
Asus P4C800 Deluxe

All of those are great boards, i've owned the Asus Deluxe and the IC7-G, although kept the Abit because it looked prettier :D

cant got wrong with these, i prefer the asus though. look at a P4P800 if your on a budget.

Thanks guys, i'm running a p4c800 deluxe at the moment, but it doesn't seem to like the 2 x 1gb mushkin pc400 redline memory that i have. With my old ocz gold 3500eb memory it is prime stable for hours, but if i put the mushkin in and adjust the settings accordingly it fails prime in less than 2 minutes.

i think the redline is based on utt chips which these boards don't like. simple as that. :/

bh5/tccd seems to be the performance choice for the p4c800

i'm no expert on this but it's something i've picked up from reading other forums.... utt and intel are basically a no go.... :(

i have no idea about non-intel chipsets for s478 but obviously you don't want to even go there.... :p

i'll try and find some linkage for you.....

Spudgun, Had good results with TCCD and Prescott 478 3.2 Ghz on Asus P4C 800E-deluxe

Webzta, It runs that way at stock volts, It's on 24/7 and although It will go almost 5.00 Ghz with small Vcore increase The only time you notice the difference is in benching. Just seems safer that way.

Hi ive been looking for a Asus P4C 800E-deluxe or a Abit IC7 Max 3 but cant find any stock. Anyone know of anywhere with stock??? Thanks Ian.

What about an Abit AI7, uses the I865PE chipset and has uGuru which is great for OC'ing, not sure about the memory compatability, when I had one I just used OCuk value RAM.

Try 'Abit IC7' in froogle.co.uk. There still seem to be some available.

Or you could try placing a wanted ad in members market.

Well my IC7-G wasn't reliable at all, but it was better than the intial 875 offering from Asus. Buying now is a different matter Asus -E revisions all the way imo.
