Which iPod?

Right, so my 2gb iPod has finally packed in and I'm in need of a replacement. I'll happily shell out the money for a 16gb Touch if I feel it's worth it pending a few questions answered.

I'll be using it at work, in the gym, outside running or cycling so it'll take some knocks and scratches, get dropped, be operated with oil/grease/muck on my hands. Also might not be able to charge it for a few days at a time.

I listen to audio books and music (might do video if it's practical) so 8gb is probably a minimum, old 2gb was far too little.

Are the 80gb/160gb Classics solid state storage or are they likely to not respond well to vibration/trauma etc? Though 80gb is possibly overkill anyway.

Pocket space isn't too much of an issue, my pockets are generally full of crap anyway so the differences in size won't matter too much.

So which iPod would you recommend?

Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the help so far guys.

Think I've pretty much eliminated the Touch from my decision, though it does seem a fantastic gadget I don't think I'd get the most out of it.

It isn't so much skipping that worries me on the Classic it's just that I consider it another moving part that can go wrong.

Since my old iPod was just 2gb it'd be a nice leap to go up to 8gb but I can't help thinking 80gb would give me a whole lot more options. If anything I'd prefer the more bulky build of the Classic.

Decisions decisions.....

I ended up buying a 8gb Nano, £54 after I spent the £75 of vouchers I got from work for xmas bonus.

Screen and menus are leagues ahead of my previous 2gb, haven't played with it much yet though.

Might look into getting some covers / new earphones / extras for it, any suggestions?
