I've never felt the need to own an ipod before but I'm now looking to buy one but can't decide between the new Nano and the Classic.

Well, how much music do you have?

If you have a lot, go for a Classic, if you don't have much and would prefer a smaller iPod, then go for a Nano.

And it's iPod :p

The nano is small but you'll need to think about what you want in it. Where a classic, for £60 more you can just chuck it all in. £160 for 80G that plays videos too is a bargain i think. And it's actually VERY thin, the new HD they use are tiny.

well I do have a lot of music, my main use will be in the car and when I'm stuck in the office a couple of days a week.

What type of video files do these playback?

I'm thinking of buying a new iPod too. I want to buy the 80GB Classic. I have a 1GB shuffle and a 2GB 1Gen Nano. But I think it will have to wait seen as a also want an xbox 360. :D

And if I were in your shoes I would go for a Classic because even if you don't have that much music, the only thing your music library can do is go up!! :)

.mp4 H.264.

Do Apple supply software to convert media to this?

I'm going to pop into the Apple store in Lakeside at the weekend and see which I prefer, Classic seems good for the money.

How do the FM transmitters work for use in car?

AFAIK, iTunes will play it but won't convert your conventional file (.AVI) to that - you're better off finding a simple converter (if you're on OS X, try iSquint or Visual Hub - Windows user, hope someone else can advise on it :p) If all else fails, Quicktime can convert certain formats to H.264.

The iPod can play .mp4 as well mind.

And the FM transmitter works by attaching the transmitter to the iPod and select an empty frequency e.g. 100.0 and tune your car radio to that and you essentially have a radio receiving radio frequency from the transmitter within the vicinity :)

Yeah I'm a windows user, so will have to do some research.

Thanks wondered how this worked

I wanted a classic at first..

I've got 48Gb or music in my library and I struggle to decide what to listen to at home.. let alone whilst I'm out!...

So I got an 8Gb Nano.. its got 4 days of music (plus some podcasts) on it which for a complete indecisive like me is a bit easier to decide what to listen to!..

Plus its a bit easier to carry in a pocket than a classic!.

Get both :p

Both are Griffin Reflect cases, the itouch one comes with a stick on screen protector too. Managed to put it on without any bubbles. :)
