I don't know which one to go for in terms for gaming at High res.

Dell 2407WFP A04 or HP LP2475w 24?

Which one is better?

Which one has less input lag?

Cheers

cmon people, where are all you TN haters at?

I would like to order an IPS monitor before the VAT increases?

Can you recommend me one if not the above?

Iv been asking a similar question here on OCuK around the 'new' Dell 2U410 which is an IPS panel, although it has had some problems. Same for me, im ready to order right now (before 17.5%) but Im not sure which, I was looking at the HP 2475 but I think that has also had some issues and has slightly less features than the Dell U2410. I suppose its down to budget. I was looking around the £430 mark which puts me in line with these monitors. how about you?

The HP is better than the Dell (I have had both, well the Dell 2408WFP and the HP).

It is better for colour accuracy, performance and fit and finish.

The 2407WFP is not an IPS panel either, it is an S-PVA.

My budget is £450, I can raise it if necessary but would not like to really.

How does the HP compare to the U2410?

Note, that performance is important as I play FPS a lot. I also like to watch movies in HD.

U2410 seems like a very nice screen, as long as it isn't affected by bad QC :p

I'd pick it over the HP due to the connectivity advantage and being sRGB only - I'm not a fan of wide gamut screens really since it interferes with normal web browsing/usage where apps are not colour managed.

It does however have around 30ms of input lag in normal mode (in gaming mode it's 14ms) looking at various reviews. This may mean it's not ideal for FPS gaming unless you change image mode all teh time for gaming whereas other IPS panels have ~15ms in normal mode anyway (The HP being one)

They are both of similar stock, although the HP is much older where as the U2410 was only released a few months ago replacing the 2408. Only problem with the dell is that some people have reported some colour problems and pink/green tinting. The HP has also had similar issues although not to the same extent.

In terms of specs they both have a similar array of ports (DVI,DP) and ratios, although the new Dell has some higher specs (forgive me im not that into the specs) its something like 80,000:1 against something lower on the HP - or at least one of the other more generally quoted spec features anyway.

Im looking at using Eyefinity on the 5970. With one if these monitors in the centre and one of their brethern for the side monitors, in the case of the dell the ST2410 or G2410 which are around £199/£230 TN panels.

Edit:mrk you beat me to it :P

as said above, the 2407WFP and 2408WFP are S-PVA based and not IPS, so if IPS is important to you, the Dell model to look at is the U2410. The U2410 and the HP LP2475W both use the same panel, although slightly different revisions. have a look at the review here which covers the Dell and makes some comparisons against the HP (also tested here)

the Dell has a better sRGB emulation mode, slightly better responsiveness thanks to a better RTC control, and a 12-bit LUT. However, the HP has a slightly better black depth and contrast ratio. thats about the only points which separate the two really, and they are both very similar

for gaming I'd say the Dell U2410 has the slight edge over the HP LP2475W. Slightly better in terms of pixel responsiveness with less RTC dark trailing. Also slightly lower input lag average when using game mode at 14.4ms rather than 25ms
