Which IPS screen for gaming please?

Hi guys,

I'm still using my trusty nec 20wgx2 which is 1650x1050 resolution and I'm feeling the need to upgrade. I want to stay with an IPS panel now as anything else insults my eyes. I was originally planning to get a 24" monitor 1920x1080 but the Dell u2515h at it's higher resolution has me tempted.

My questions are:

1) I'm using a 970gtx and wondering whether it will be good enough to run the lastest games in near max detail apart from the odd setting that hits performance badly on the u2515h or would a 1920x1080 be a better option?

2) Reviews and opinions of the u2515h seem very positive though I have read a few comments saying that there is visible ghosting in fast paced fps games. Any owners here agree with this?

Thanks

Thankyou for the reply, I'm looking at a maximum of around £350. You say anything over than gsync will have ghosting but that's not true as my Nec 20wgx2 doesn't have any noticeable ghosting, neither does my brothers hazro or my sons lg23mp65hq and they are all 60fps IPS screens.

Thanks AgedIdiot, I'd like the 27" but it's around £100 more which seems a lot for an extra 2 inches :) Which dell 34" do you have? Are you a gamer and if so do you have any ghosting?

I find that Vsync caused quite bad input lag so your mouse feels like it's slower on screen that what you are doing, only had this issue in CS:GO though which you need to have fast reflexes on so it was an issue. Fixed it by turning of Vsync and playing around with the borderless fullscreen settings to stop tearing issue.

Ah ok, I'm guessing this is an issue with the game and vsync and not unique to this particular monitor
