I am looking at corsair memory, and there is a choice of 4 sticks and 2 sticks for 4GB.

QUAD2X4096-8500C5DF PC2-8500 4GB Kit 5-5-5-15 240pin DIMM
TWIN2X4096-8500C5DF PC2-8500 4GB Kit 5-5-5-15 240pin DIMM

According to the spec, both are 2T and same speed/timings. Is there an overclocking/performance benefit choosing the one over the other?

Thanks.

IMO either would still hamper overclocking, with the issue of either having 4Gb or running a large capacity module. However I have had issues in the past where having four full dimms has limited my overclock. (Even with large NB voltage increases)

Other than my experience, I would say you wouldn't see any benefit from one over the other. (Buts thats IMO)

Definately go for the 2x2gb kit. They'll be far less stress on the northbridge.

2x2 gig would stress the NB less than 4x1 gig, it'll also give you room for upgrade if need be.

Unless the 4x1 gig is rediculously cheaper, get the 2x2 gig :)
