im needing a new business phone and i have been looking at the blackberry range but i cant seem to find an answer to the question... which is better bold or curve?

can anyone help :-)

What's important to you? The keyboard on the Bold is better from what I've heard, if only because it's bigger. But in turn that means that the Curve is the better option for a smaller, sleeker phone. And it has a better camera. But can't do 3G. Etc etc...

Have the Bold myself and have seen a couple of curves at work and I'd say Bold all the way. Possibly one of the best business phones at the moment.

Depends do you need 3G??..if not then the 8900 curve will do the job as its not a 3G handset...differences are that the Bold is a bigger wider handset, has 3G and has a much faster processor than the 8900 curve...in fact it has the fastest processor out of all the BB's at the moment...the 8900 curve does have more ram though, 256mb compared to the 128mb that the Bold comes with. Also the 8900 curve has a 3.2mp camera whereas the Bold only has a 2mp camera

Personally ive had both and i prefer the Bold over the curve...the curve is nice, light and thin compared to the Bold.

At the end of the day it really depends on if you need 3G or not and whether the Bold suits your hands or not. I suggest popping down to a mobile phone ie Voda, O2 or tmobile and see if they have any on display ie demo units...usually they do. Have a play and see what you think of the handsets.

does the lack of 3g make a huge difference?

how good are they for browsing?

it all seems to centre around 3g, camera, memory and processor speed.

is the lessor memory a major disadvantage? does it hinder the performance any?

camera really doesnt matter to me. i would hardly use it.

still not sure if lack of 3g is going to be a major problem..

Depends if you want fast web browsing along with being able to talk on the phone whilst texting or emailing. With 3G you can send and receive data at the same time as your talking.

As for browsing??...well they arent the fastest...the iphone and even the Magic are much better handsets for web browsing...but i have no major issues with my Bold...on 3G its perfectly fine and on my wifi at home, its pretty damn quick.

Also just to mention the Bold comes with 1gb of internal storage compared to the Curve which comes with none although you could get a micro sd card...i have a 16gb one in my Bold at the moment so plenty of storage space.

Depends...on my Bold i have a lot of apps running so obviously over time the ram decreases and sometimes i do get the odd lag when running something...sometimes its gets very low where it automatically deletes texts and emails but i just do a battery pull to reboot my device so i start fresh. Actually i have a small app that does it for me every morning at 6am so i dont have to worry about my memory running low etc.

The 8900 because it comes with 256 of ram tends not to suffer from that problem my Bold does but then a lot of it is down to my apps that i have running ie weather apps tends to drain my memory a bit.

i ditched the iphone for a bold three weeks ago and I love it, tmobile accidently sent me a curve by mistake and I tried it out but when they swapped it back im glad I sent the curve back

I think the best thing you can do is try them out. I did and the curve felt much nicer to use, I've got loads of apps runnning, and never have any probelms. Interent is not that slow. I cant see 3g increasing the speed that much. the only thing missing is the lack of flash. But hopefully this will be sorted soon

I received my bold during the week... its a fantastic piece of kit.. :-)

one question about it.. Its from vodafone so it has their custom theme on it.. is there a way to make it use other themes..? even when they are selected as active the phone still shows the vodafone one.

Nope theres nothing you can do about that...you can if you want download other themes but you cannot get rid of the vodafone branding ie software branding...well you can but the software used is illegal and could end up bricking your phone if you dont do it right.

For themes and wallpapers go to crackberry and theres a sub forum with loads of themes and wallpapers for the Bold and other BB models...some themes you have to pay for whereas some you wont.
