comes down to price really. I take it the e6300 is 2nd hand? as they haven't made these for a while.

the 6300 has more cache making it faster clock for clock.

I got an E6300 around sept '06. Clocks to 3.15 easily. Haven't managed to fully push it yet as I want to keep RAM at 1:1 and I don't want to push that over 900. Someday I might see what the rig can actually do. The later E6300s apparently didn't clock so well but I'm happy with mine and I don't think I'll be changing it anytime soon. I don't know any game that's limited by it atm.

I got the 6300 as soon as it came out. Clocked great to 3.22ghz, however recently its decided it didnt like it and started to crash, so i have cranked it down to 3ghz now and its running fine

Great chip! Just gutted than i could probabally get my rid for £300 less now!

The e2160 might allow you to get to higher clocks if your motherboard can't do 400-500MHz FSB.
