Which is better for gaming?

I was watching a Linus review of a low end card and he was mentioning that instead of trying to get a dead cheap card that's useless you would see more value in getting a card that can actually do a good job at reasonable price still. I can see used Radeon 7770s going for around £50 on a popular auction site. That would actually hold up in modern games with reasonable settings. There is a sweet spot with the value for money that indicates it's worth putting £20 extra in and getting more than double the performance. A good example of a lack of value for money is the cost difference between a 290 and a 290X which is huge for the actual performance gained.

If you're looking to spend under £30, I would go for something a few generations old- an ATI 4870 or GTX 270/80. There is a GTX 460 for £30 on a popular second hand classified site which will be so much better than the 610 your face will explode.

As thefogo noted, 8800 GTS is far, far better than the 610 which isn't remotely a gaming card. You cant beat that with a bargain basement non-gaming card.
