I'm going to buy my first pc over the next couple of days, I'm going for a Q6600 and after reading some of the posts on oc'ing them, I've narrowed my choice on which mobo to get down to the Asus P5K or P5K Pro. Is the pro worth the extra £7? It has some extra feature (like the option to use RAID) but I'm not sure I'd need them so I was just wondering if they oc better?

The P5K Pro has better cooling than the standard P5K. Only issue with it is that badly positioned 24pin connector.

The Pro is worth the extra £7 especially for that RAID option. All P5K's clock well. P5K_E offers the best O/Cing + value for money equation.

Cheers for the advice, i think i'll go with the pro, i've heard the build in wifi on the p5k-E's can affect a high fsb? Also how much of a problem is the 24 pin connector?

It's just badly placed on the PRO, meaning that the cable will run across the board. If you have the money though, get the P5K-E. Awesome, awesome board. Wifi affecting FSB is some false rumour.

Cheers, I think you may have convinced me... It'll work out cheaper without having to buy a network adapter on top of the mobo anyway.

Is the OCing on the P5K-E better than the P5K Premium? Also what's the difference between them?

Custom PC mag has the P5K Premium as their preferred board with a 540 FSB achieved. From my research though I don't think theres much in it in terms of overclocking. I have a system with a Premium board and it's a superb clocker :)

Think you'll be happy either way ;)
