got loads of spares around the house at the moment and am looking to build a new rig in a lian li v300 but am not sure which of these chips to use the first is a pentium 4 2.8c sck 478 i had this on an old asus p4c800 board and it was a cracker but i have a matx board for it now or the other is an amd 64 3000+ sck 754 which is a good little chip now which of these would be the best bet for a rig :confused:
 
What're you going to be doing with it?

For games etc I'd use the 3000+, but for things like folding and video encoding the p4 MAY be a little faster.
 
sorry should have said its going to be a bit of both really and to take to lan partys:D am thinking that if i can clock the p4 up to possible 3ghz it should match the amd alround ??
 
For games the 3000 should still beat the p4, simply due to it's architecture. Any information on the cache these chips have got, as it'd be helpful?
