I have two machines both with 1Gb of ram. THe first is a intel P4 2.4C running at 3GHz and a AMD althon64 2800+ running at stock. I am gonna get a AGP nvidia 6800 or 7600 vga card and would like to know which machine I should put it in for gaming.
Thanks in advance guys :)

amds are better than intel at gaming, but im not sure too well on the specs of these chips so it might turn out that the intel is better. Why dont you try both and benchmark, or see what fps you get on your fav games. Which ever performs better you choose?!!

The old AMDs are better than p4s for gaming so you should put the card in the amd machine, I don't know the particulars of the 2800 and the p4 you've got but , gut instict says that the amd will beat the p4.

I also didn't know that there was a 2800 athlon 64.

Another bit of advice would be, get the 7600 gt as it is faster than the 6800.

The 2800 is a sempron, running at 1.8 i think. Why isnt this chip oc'd?

What ram is in each of the systems? And the easiest way to find out is to put it in both and bench them

what fsb are you meant to run the Althon64 at, currently i have it at 200Mhz???
THe motherboard is a Asus K8V-SE deluxe. and the processor is a Athlon 64 2800+ (Socket754) I think :D
