Thinking of buying a 2GB kit of Ram to go into an Asus P5WDG2 WS Pro, with E6600 processor, it will be overclocked, and would like the Ram to use the Micron D9GMH/D9GKX chips, so which would be the better:

CellShock 2GB (2 x 1GB) DDR2 PC2-6400C4 800MHz Dual Channel Kit

Or

Team Xtreem 2GB (2 x 1GB) DDR2 PC2-6400C4 800MHz Dual Channel Kit (TXDD2048M800HC4DC)

This 2GB kit will not be mixed with any other sticks (ie not with the 2GB of Geil I am now using), and the few £s in the price difference is not an issue.

Many thanks for your comments. :)

There's been very little said about the Team stuff.

But the Cellshock is meant to be very very good, and its current price makes it something of a bargain.

I mate

is a thought competition

if it was me,i went for Team Extreem PC2 6400
simply because I have a lot of mates who have that Ram and all tell me of the great capacity of overclock that ram has :)

almost forgot- Cellshock - 5 years warranty / Team Extreem - lifetime warranty

Thanks for your replys. ;)

Cob:

I see you're in Portrush, used to live a few miles from you in Portballintrae (as a young nipper), between the old Beach Hotel (now apartments) and the harbour. :)

I was also thinking about getting the Cellshock RAM but cannot work out which chips they use.

And yes i have red the Memory chip list but i dont know the revisions of the ram, how do i find that out.

Its either the Cellshock, Team Extreme or the Crucial 6400?

It needs about 2.2-2.3v.

Thanks ;)

I did quite a bit of head scratching over what to choose regarding these three sets of Ram (two sets to begin with), and in the end it came down to price, as I found the Crucial for £40 less than the other two. :)

Just out of interest, what is the maximum safe voltage that one can use with:

Crucial Ballistix 2GB (2x1GB) DDR2 PC2-6400C4 800MHz Dual Channel Kit (BL2KIT12864AA804)

Is 2.3v the maximum "safe voltage"?

The kit I ordered arrived yesterday, must say am quite pleased with it. :)

I'm running 2.37v through mine atm (2.4v in BIOS). 2.3v and above should really be actively cooled.

When you say "actively cooled" would that be something like a fan directed straight at it?

Thanks. :)
