I'd guess that in general more RAM is better, unless you are comparing 4GB of pc133 to 2GB of DDR3 or something stupid.

no was looking at 8gb ddr2 at 1066mhz to 4gb ddr3 at 2000mhz

If it's for the system in your signature, then you do not need DDR3 memory. DDR2 is perfectly fine for a Core 2 Quad based system. The Asus Maximum Formula Special Edition motherboard doesn't support DDR3 memory anyway.

DDR2 for your CPU, DDR3 offers no benifit really

Depends whether you're using up all the memory.

For most people, 4GB of C4 RAM would be better than 8GB C5 RAM, for example.
