Which is faster 7800GT or 9600GT?

I may be able to upgrade, but I don't want to get the slower card... So, which is best? I'm not really bothered about DX10 FWIW....

Also, does either support dual displays in linux?

A single 9600gt would absolutely destroy even 2 7800gt cards in SLI.

And yes both support dual display.

Ok, well I have a 9600GT that appears to be dead. If I can RMA it then I'll be keeping it then...

I can never keep up with all these new cards and I remember that a 7800GT was faster than a 8600gt a while back...

Definitely RMA it.....the 8600GT was nothing special, pretty poo actually IMO...the 9600GT is a whole different story though.

It's not far off the 8800GT in performance and 2 of them in SLI are not far behind a 9800GX2!

Awesome, thanks... I didn't realise it was close to a 8800GT, I'll definitely RMA it, but I don't know 100% sure if it's dead... As it's part of a whole rig that won't boot...

Did you try googling any benchmarks? If so you'd have seen the 9600GT is in a different league.
