Is there a current pc2-6400c5 equivelent thats on offer at the moment and just as clockable?

I use this

had it running at 1066 no problem :D

tbh i dont see any point in buying anything below 8500, especially if interested in overclocking. I would always personally favour OCZ as their RMA is second to none.

Most of the good PC6400 C4 memories will do ~1050 mhz.
Thats 525fsb:
E8400 = 525x9 = 4725mhz
Q6600 = 525x8 = 4200mhz

I Don't think many ppl clock Q6600 over 3.6-3.8ghz ( 475fsb max) and E8400s over 4.2-4.4 ( ~470fsb ).

Then there ofcourse are some with LN2, dry ice or very good water kits that will aim for 1100+fsb, then there is the PC8500.

if u use the right divider u can make use of 8500 memory at almost any frequency.

You may as well buy cheap 6400 and try to OC it. Even if you can't get much out of it, most procs will hit 3.2-3.6 without any hassle..and it's cheaper..and performs only about 1% slower at the worst of times.

Depends how much are you going to clock it, but the pc6400 geil black dragons should do fine,
however, if you want to go for extreme speeds ( 4.3ghz+ ) I would grab pc8500 gskill kit.

It might if you happen to have a cherry picked set sent out to you, or the odd set in a batch. When you're working with hundreds of modules a week, you see the general trend. I don't think I've come across any OCZ/Geil/Corsair that will run anything like this. I've even had Dominator 8500 that refuses to POST over 1000Mhz on many occasions on overclocked systems.

You obviously ignored my post before yours..

FSB: 437
DRAM: 524.3
Ratio: 1:1.2 (shown as 5:6)
Effecftive: 1048MHz

Edit: Ok, so its not C4, but still. ;)

Why's that?

Well you was saying how you don't think that Geil can do anywhere near 1050Mhz and that some 8500 RAM wont post at past 1000. Where as I previously stated that my 6400 ram would do 1000MHz, then posted the screenie of it at 1050MHz. So yes, Geil will do that.
