Which is the Best MP3 for Sound Quality

Sony are very good for sound quality but have a look at Cowon products too.
cowon and iaudio have a very different sound to the ipod, if you're just going to be using some standard/cheap headphones i would stay away from the ipod.
a lot of ppl dismiss the ipod as having rubbish quality but it just provides a very neutral sound and not as forward/synthetic as a lot of other players which is why it doesn't sound too favourable with average headphones.
using a good line out dock with some good quality phones and preferably a headphone amp and the ipod quality, especially with rockbox, will blow your socks off.

You can get Sony S700 family of players for as low as £39 - they have best sound quality eps bass, have 50 hours bat life and noise cancelling headphones. Id say mine has better sound quality than my Creative Zen Vision M - I dont use SonicStage but WinAmp (sony pluging) to sync files.
