Which is the best PaL PS3 for backwards compatible for playing Ps1 & Ps2 Games ?

I've been on Google but im still not fully understanding which is the best Ps3 to look for buying to be the best for playing ps2 and ps1 games as the serial numbers i found was for American consoles so is the one to go for, CECHC01?

I wouldn't buy a bc console that hasn't had some serious work done I think I'd only consider an early BC console if it has had a 40nm rsx swap. They have serious issues and are basically ticking time bombs unless they have had the work. Problem is one that has had the work is going to cost you probably 500 or so.
 
oh wow really that much, ive not been much up on PlayStation for years but always bought the consoles up to 4 for the awesome exclusives and heard about these ps3's that could play 1 and 2 which sounded awesome but sounds tricky now :(

i heard rumours of ps5 possibly being able to play all PS media in the future officially that is, hope that is true

Have a look for "frankenstein ps3 40nm" and yea I recon somewhere between the 300 and 500 mark. personally I have a ps2 slim (all ps2 play ps1) and a ps3 slim. I do however have 3 broken BC consoles in my garage so one day ill attempt an RSX swap on them... I already spent a ton of money on one of them fixing up all the NEC tokens etc but uart now tells me it also needs an rsx. Honestly save your money and mental state and grab a ps3 slim or something and a ps2. The only thing that really goes wrong on the slim models is wifi failure and thats much less of a problem to deal with than an rsx swap.
 
yeah good point tbh, i forgot the ps2's play ps1, as for ps3 slim is it a certain model to go for or is it any! was there 2 ps3 slims i cant remember as i still have the fat one but not BC but it broke years back.
 
there are 2 slims, the slim and the super slim. I have a red super slim :) both slim models suffer wifi failure mind but its not rocket science to fix.

thats right all ps3's can play ps1 but not all can play the ps2, I actually "fixed" one of our members ps3 slim machines that had failed wifi a little while back and my red one has also had wifi failure when I picked it up so fairly common on them and you should look out for it, probably another case of when rather than if tbh the 1.8v regulator seems to be a weak point.

What is this wifi fix, I think mine has it. Not that I use my PS3 Slim at all these days, but would be worth knowing. My PS3 Phat is in a cupboard still with a Little Big Adventure disk still in it from when it last YLODed and I couldn't be bothered heat gunning the CPU again.

I bypass the voltage reg with an AMS1117 1.8 volt regulator. providing the blown reg hasnt sent 5v to the wifi it will just work. There are some images of this in my thread stand by and ill grab them.

Parts are pence and normally the reg fails in a relatively safe way (unless you are my red ps3 where I also replaced the wifi module)

i have the ps3 slim as i bought it as the uncharted box and came with a blu ray movie called faster i think it was, but ive never ever tried a psone game in it lol, but ive seen super slims on ebay inc a cool red one but is there a certain serial number to look out for! i did see 2 serial numbers on a site related to the super slim but think they was use versions...
