which is the better gfx for me ?

Im looking to buy the last agp gfx card my p4 machine will see. I havent got the £££ ready for the big jump to C2D and pci-e gfx just yet so looking for a stop gap.

The choices seem to be the :

Gainward BLISS GeForce 7600 GT 256MB GDDR3 TV-Out/DVI (AGP) - Retail - £94 inc vat

or


XFX GeForce 6800 GS 256MB GDDR3 TV-Out/DVI (AGP) - Retail - £70.50

Which is the better card? I can spend upto £100 but not over that budget.

My system is a P4 2.8ghz
Abit IC-7G MB
1gb ram
350w ps
and currently a bottom range xfx 6800 (non ultra) with the unlocked pipes but its struggling with games like battlefield 2, test drive unlimited and soon C&C3 and only really use it for web and games.

you wouldnt notice any difference getting the 6800 as there basically the same, best to get would be the 7600 GT which i know can run BF2 maxed and C&C 3 maxed

well it wont run bf2 max due to his ram only being 1gb but the 7600gt is the better card

I found 1GB + BF2 just didn't work well... 2GB was much better

when 8600's come to town the 7900 GS cards will plummet in price.

Go for 7600GT. You'd benefit from an extra 1GB ram. But that money'd be best put towards a C2D rig.

i used to run it maxed with 1 gb

either you used to play in 640x480, or you liked slideshows i take it?

i had amd a64 3000, 1GB Geil, 7800GTX and i wouldnt put it on highest everything, + 2x FSAA and AF because it would absolutely cripple it.

it was bad enough turned up more than 3/4 especially when entering the map for the first time rgrggr

I have 1GB of ram and run BF2 maxxed O_o, I run it all high with 16xAF/16xQAA and supersampling with average of 50-70fps, but I do get some freezes now and again, proberbly the large amount of graphics memory is decreasing freezing due to low memory.

BF2 dont look as good on my 8800GTS than it did on my X800XTPE

Cheers Guy's looks like i'll have to order a 7600GT then (and maybe some of that GEIL 1gb dual ddr ram) as the prices are good
