I'm planning to buy a new set of phones. Its down to Beyerdynamic DT-990s pro 250ohm. They have some good reviews, good build quality, look very comfortable. Lastly I see there are two types. pro and premium which have a large price difference. Anyone experienced with these to comment on the differences? Even Byers website is not clear on this. Are the premiums worth over $100 more than the pros?

also the dt990 pro 250 ohm have better bass , better mids and clear sound from DT 990 250 ohm Premium is is true??

some people say that The Pros have slightly more bass and less treble, but the frequency response curve is already plenty V-shaped on the Premiums.

also some people say that the premium offer plenty of oomf and crisper highs, resulting in a fun and open sound. The Pros are a bit less roomy and can sound a tad muddled on less well-mixed tracks.

do y believe that the premium have more plenty of oomf and crisper highs and biger soundstage from pros/??

the premium is more v-shaped from pros/??

IIRC the pro is a simpler design/option more for professional use and has:

- more headphone clamp
- different cord (coiled)
- 250 Ohm only
- easy replaceable headband
- no carrying case/accessories
- cheaper?

I can't speak for that, just physically the product differences. IIRC, they use the same drivers, so the differences are likely only subtle.

Higher clamp/pressure increases feel of bass, because pushing driver little closer to ear.

If it's for use with PC, Tygr 300 R could be good option with price near Pro, lighter clamp of Premium and 1,6m straight cable.
Though might not be available from elsewhere than directly from Beyerdynamic.

also do you believe that Premium is passive filtering stronger and killing soundstage that way, but better bass

and the Pro is linear, with equally spacers, more open and has so a bigger soundstage - ???

Buy both, test yourself as with all audio slight differences are down to user preference, sell other, win win !

If anything exactly the other way.
Higher clamping force of Pro's headband increases feel of bass.
Just try it with any headphone: If you press them tighter to your head you'll notice increase in bass.
And it certainly won't make treble less detactable.

Beyond that they're same headphone.
With studio use aimed Pro version simply having less decorated look than Premium, that IIRC 25-30% higher clamping force, and coiled cable.
Though for PC use would definitely go ofr Tygr 300 R, which has lower price with Premium's more comfortable lower clamping force and 1.6m straight cable.
(3m straight cable too long for use with PC and coiled cable has weight)

For a second time time:
They are excactly same design except for cosmetic/outlook differences.
Only possible differences in sound are caused by headband's higher clamping force pressing cups and drivers closer to ear.
