No LLU / Cable or anything good in my area, I know people nearby can get around 2-4mb/s

House already has a line running to it, but currently no service on it

So I need to pick an ISP and a line provider, won't be making calls on it though, well very rarely

Sky / BT / O2 / Orange any good?

I've only really dealt with cable in the past

What are your usage requirements?

I can recommend Xilo, I'm on an Office package so get increased priority on the BT part of the network and 832Kb upload.
It is expensive (£37.6 pm) compared to consumer packages, but when you think about how dependent we are on the net nowadays and how many hours we use another couple of quid a week is well worth it for the increased service levels.

Ping and stability are the most important thing to me, but a high download limit would be handy, I don't want to be worrying about how much I download on steam or linux iso files. Say 80gb a month ish?

Don't care about upload speed, as long as it's not pathetic

Well, this Xilo line is much better than my old UKOnline/Sky Connect one. Stability is fine and you can choose to turn interleaving on or off from an online control panel. With Interleaving off I have pings around 16ms to bbc.co.uk. On the old line with interleaving off they were around 25-30ms with more jitter. I also had around 2% packet loss 24/7, which is now gone.

My package is 80GB peak (8am-6pm) Unlimited offpeak. You can see what you are using online and set alert thresholds to be notified by email or SMS. So far I'm thinking i could probably get by on the 40GB peak package as i'm using less than 1GB peak a day.
