Currently in the process of moving to an area with fibre broadband but not sure which ISP is the lesser of many evils. I dont mind forking out for a new router to connect the silly amount of devices we as a couple have collected.

The choice and 1 question

Plusnet, BT, and Talktalk.

And why is Sky so slow at the moment? Only offering 38mb in the area?!? cf 78 of others.

Which is the best for average speeds and sorting out problems? I know BT traffic manages in evenings but do the others?

Thanks in advance for all help.

virgin is hands down the best for speed, nobody else comes close, put your postcode in on their site and see what services u can get

Virgin's upload speed is sufficient for most needs, unless you're uploading multiple videos on a daily basis. On that note.. go Virgin, just download stuff during non-peak times and your speed won't get cut in half.

who cares about upload, its download all the way for most users, you can upload at 10mb on virgins best package and download at 120mb

uswitch is not impartial its all ********, they get paid from some companies to make them look better than they are, its a corrupt site run by very dodgy people ( trust me i have worked with them)

uswitch sucks they obviously dont have a contract with virgin so they arent showing them as a choice

I would personally say avoid virgin, im with them on their 60Mbs line and as much as i think i can avoid the throttling its a real pain in the ass.

I download a fair few games now and then and the capping really does take its toll. Its still fast by all means, but its not the 60Mbs i pay for, and as everyone should know already the upload is a big big BIG pile of monkey nuts.

Im looking to go to plusnet perhaps, im somewhat in the same situ as you. Im looking for an ISP that doesn't shape it as much.

With Virgin on the 100 Mbps package. Once you've downloaded 20GB a day they throttle you. The throttling is half of your speed so I still download >6.2 MBps. Upload is 10 Mbps so an average of 1MB constantly up which is enough for what I do.

Haven't had any real issues with the service - there was a day it was down (but that was a South West issue rather than my line) and I'm quite happy with there service - just wish it was cheaper and that not having the phone actually meant you paid a lot less (as I don't want it).
