Awful advice. Just read through the VM thread to see how far off the mark this is.

VM can be good if you're lucky enough to be in the right area devoid of congestion...and don't care about the traffic shaping.

but are Plusnet really any better than BT (when it comes to BT Infinity - I know BT's ADSL products were somewhat lacking)? I've gone with BT (Infinity 20/80) for the first time since ADSL first became available and I had my awesome engineer-installed 512kbit inet and so far I've been pleasantly surprised.

For me the Talk Talk has been very good! Contrary to popular belief

Not one single problem, go figure! Although I agree there customer support call centre staff are pants!

I know someone else with who has had a good experience with them...but I would still never recommend them to anyone

For me the best fibre isp is Zen. Not the cheapest by any stretch, they never have been.
But one of the best ways of testing the service of an isp is to ring the number for tech problems. At zen, they are in the UK..................not abroad. They know what they are talking about, without going through a "script". The system backbone is second to none, as a result there is no throttling.

After recently moving from Virgin to BT Infinity I've never been happier.

Significantly more stable ping with BT and no weird caps, more than worth the 24mb~ loss in download speed. (and 8mb~ upload gain).

But, you can't get Virgin anyway, I imagine any vDSL service will suffice.
