Hey people, ive got 2mb unlimited atm, which i pay about 40 ish quid a month for, and ive ordered it to cancel as i must be able to get it cheaper these days

So im basically looking for

as fast a service as possible.
No more than 40squiggly ones
Unlimited download limit.
and a Static IP

Cheers for any advice :)

im tempted by bulldogs current deal of about 20 quid a month for unlimited 1mb then when its ready free upgrade to 8mb for no extra charge per month

ZEN
OR
PLUS.NET

Im a plusnet user and im trying to get away from them. They have implemented way too much trafficing on all their services and their caps are very average considering their price now. £22 for a 20GB peak time cap is quite expensive, and he also said unlimited, which plusnet are not.

Personally i would take Zen, but they are expensive, and due to most ISPs limting they will probably be getting an influx of heavy downloaders.

ok so who currently gives the fastest service to home users?

Currently, the LLU providers I'd imagine - Bulldog, Easynet/UKOnline, Be, Homechoice.

Availability for all but Be here, though $deity knows how up to date it is, most of the rest of the data isn't. Would suggest trawling the individual providers' sites.

As ever, speed will depend on the capabilities of your line etc etc.

They are one of the mroe expensive one's that i have seen, but their 2mb unlimited is 35 pounds a month, under the 40 which Phate wants to spend so might be a good idea to look into it :)

I'm planning to migrate to them myself in the next few days.

Go with BE if you can get them in your area..upto 24mb depending on distance from Exchange & 1mb upload. Only costs $24 p/m, i am nearly 2km from exchange & get just under 1mb download & 120kbs up. After a shaky first month with them back in September the connection has been very stable.

BE just got £24.5 million to roll out more ADSL2+ to Manchester and Birmingham and apparently hope to offer their services to half the UK by the end of this year
