Which Joypad?

I've been a lot of NFS:Most Wanted this Christmas on my brother's XBOX, and am quite up for getting a racing game or two for my PC. I'd like a joypad that's got a couple of analogue sticks of the same/higher quality as his S-Controller. I dont have room for a steering wheel or anything like that.

Can anyone give me some recommendations?

Thanks!

I've got the Logitech Cordless Rumblepad 2. I think it's quite good and so do a lot of other people but it's durability is questionable. It's pretty much an exact replica of the PS2 controller but if you want something similar to the Xbox controller just buy an Xbox to PC adapter and get the S-Controller.

I have the logitech rumblepad 2, and find it brill for NFS MW however there is also a pad called the NEO-PLAY 24x which is very similar to the xbox controller plus you can download the config for different games from thier site, i cant give the link to the site that i got mine off of but just do a google and you will find it.

Another vote for the Logitech Rumble pad 2.

Excellent gamepad, I've also owned a couple of the Saitek 2500's, they were decent enough pads but I had issues with the d-pad's breaking extremely easily on them.

Had the Logi rumblepad for a year & a half now and no problems.

Beware of this as i used to have the usb adapter however it wouldn work with all the games i wished to use a joypad with eg GTA SA. However thats not to say it wont work with nfs mw.

Worke fine in GTA for me, did you install the drivers? If you did try unistalling them.

Odd, works great for me in everything, including GTA SA. :)

If you have any other devices connected like Joysticks etc... then you have to disable them so the PS2 pad gets selected as the main device to use, as if Joysticks etc... are connected then they get used as the primary device, had to disable my Momo and EVO, was hard trying to play GTA SA with a wheel lol, especially running around, had to disable the EVO to otherwise that would have been selected next.

The best will be the 360 one now though, thinking of getting one of those myself. :)

Thanks for your replies - I already use a PS pad connected with a USB adapter for EPSXE etc, as the PS1 is gathering dust somewhere. I'll look into the 360 wired pad I reckon.

i use the xbox 360 wired pad with nfs:mw, its totally awesome.

controls come preassigned perfectly.

NFSMW doesn't let you adjust the deadzone for the analogue sticks - and nor do the Microsoft drivers. A lot of people seem to have problems with NFSMW and the stick pulling to the side slightly because of this. Also there are no rumble/vibration effects.

I wouldn't recommend anyone buy the x360 pad until these issues are sorted by Microsoft bringing out better drivers with proper configuration options.

just got myslef the saitek p3000 for christmas needed a wireless gamepad without batteries and this thing is awesome my only annoyance with it is the lack of a second set of shoulder pads but it has 6 buttons on the right side so all is not lost, a great pad and doesnt feel "plasticcy" at all, feels solid.

I got a Thrustmaster trigger force gamepad which would be pretty good for racing games. It's got 2 triggers which would be good for acceleration/ braking.

Posted this in another thread, its basically some new support for the shoddy drivers that ms have released, adds things like profile etc, i've not tried it myself but after looking on a few 360 specific sites it looks like this is the business.

From the admin and developer:

The first and most abundant reason people are using these apposed to the microsoft drivers are deadzone support. Most hits from my website come from people searching for "Xbox 360 Deadzone". Below is a list of reasons to use opposed to Microsof Drivers.

Deadzone Support

Controller Remapping Click Here For picture

Early Rumble For non x-input games

Range Control

Analog axis and trigger sensitivity control

Guide button Lights up

Is open-sorce so it will always be able to add features down the road

Windows still detects it as a "controller"

Last but not least XBCD driver creator Redcl0ud has ControlMK (also made by Redcl0ud) to map keyboard keys to this gamepad.

ControlMK is great for Games Like: Far Cry, Battlefield 2, Half-Life, Doom 3,Call Of Duty 2, Splinter Cell: Pandora Tomorrow, Serious Sam 1 and 2, Unreal Tournament, Tomb Raider 3, Hitman 2, Close Combat: First to Fight, and many many more!!
