Fed up of using sub-standard keyboards. Last I bought was a Saitek Eclipse and after 4 months of use have come to the conclusion it's pretty crap.

I was planning on buying a Enermax Aurora Brushed Aluminium Keyboard, looks well made, solid and tough..but then I saw the Logitech G15 Gaming-Grade Illuminated Keyboard is on offer this week.

My only concern about the G15 is that it could be another gimmicky keyboard that is ultimately pretty poor in everyday use.

Does anyone have experience of either of these and can offer any feedback ?

I love my G15 , nice key action , media keys ,volume control , macros on the G keys ( you can fire programmes up at the touch of a key , eject a drive etc ) and the lcd can be used for all kinds , even if you dont use LcdStudio ( which i recommend you do ).
And it aint really that much bigger than a regular keyboard .
Only downside is that its a bit pricy , but well worth it if you are going to use all its features.

G15 is on special at the mo too

Enermax costs more than the g15 -.- i think or equivalent, at least on normal price

I know exactly what you mean.

I have an enermax aurora, a logitech di-novo and a few other keyboards.

The logitech DiNovo and the enermax aurora are the best.
These have low profile keys (laptop style) but the travel is a little longer than a laptop and they are a bit firmer, the enermax is slightly firmer than the DiNovo, but this is comfortable with just the right tactile feedback for everyday use.

I had a Coolermaster low profile keyboard as well, but that was rubbish to use so I gave it away in the end.

I prefer low profile keys as I kinda slide my fingers from one key to the next rather than having to lift them from one key to the next.

The enermax keys work equally well wherever you press them, the middle of the key or even the edges, the same with the space bar!, this was the problem with the coolermaster, the keys wobbled and were prone to sticking.

Both the DiNovo and the Aurora are very well built and a joy to use and will last a very long time.

If you are one of these people that type with the keyboard on their laps (some people do!), then the enermax is heavier than most keyboards also the cable comes out of the middle along the top of the keyboard and is not adjustable.
( Some keyboards allow you to have the cable coming out from the left, middle or right. )

Someone else wil have to help you with the other keyboard.

P.S. I don't use keyboard for gaming much so cant comment on that. For gaming I have an Ideon Z-Board, it's good with it's replaceable key maps, but for everyday typing, I just did not like it one bit and kept making mistakes.

Hope this helps a little

Conclusion on the Enermax Aurora.

This is a high quality keyboard that is a pleasure to use.

I bought the Enermax from OcUK on Saturday after getting through about 5 different keyboards/desktop combinations, the last of which was the Eclipse (agree, it's not very nice and a bit 'cheap' to use).

The Enermax has addressed all of my needs - it's the perfect keyboard, as long as you don't want any of the extra 'stuff' that the G15 offers.

One more thing to bear in mind, the G15 has full size keys rather than the low profile laptop type that the Enermax Aurora has.
